Lie and はな (hana)

Although Usopp, ウソップ (Usoppu) is the sniper of the Straw Hat Pirates, he is well-known as the liar of the pirate crew as well.  This is due to one of his skill and specialty of being a constant liar.  Even his name sounds like or うそ (uso), which means lie or falsehood.  うそ (uso) can also mean an otter, , which has similar pronunciation but different writing in Kanji.

Usopp is also often referred to using his long nose, or はな (hana).  はな can also mean flower if written in a different Kanji, .  Nico Robin’s power comes from eating the ハナハナの (Hana Hana no Mi), Flower-Flower Fruit.

There are many words that we can learn from the word はな as well.  花火 or はなび (hanabi) means fireworks.  花見 or はなみ (hanami) is cherry blossom viewing.  花びら or はなびら is flower petal.  or はなし (hanashi) mean talk or speech, while 鼻紙 or  はながみ (hanagami) is tissue paper.
